The Air Bubble project takes inspiration from the concept of a Chinese garden, where the space is fragmented, allowing users to choose their workspace based on their needs. This approach offers multi-directional visuals and encourages exploration and discovery within the office environment.
The design features bright bubbles floating in the space, enclosing private office spaces and meeting rooms. This arrangement generates a dialogue between the inside and outside, creating a sense of connection and openness. The bubbles serve as references within the space, allowing users to choose their own spatial sequence.
Inside the bubbles, the translucent skin becomes bright and abstract, flooding the space with natural light. This creates an atmosphere that is both neutral and inspiring, enhancing the productivity and well-being of the users. The design also prioritizes privacy, with the soft, waterproof surface material ensuring that the inner spaces remain secluded.
The Air Bubble design is realized using a combination of materials and technologies. The structure is composed of a membrane with a shiny skin on the outside and a translucent surface on the inside. Transparent bones provide the structural support, creating a visually striking and functional design. The main material used in the project is PVC, including U-type translucent PVC panels, plastic hollow plates, and transparent PVC tubes.
One of the challenges faced during the design process was the limited budget. The team had to find creative solutions to ensure the structural integrity of the design while staying within the constraints. Additionally, fixing the structure in the existing floor tiles proved to be a technical challenge. However, through careful planning and execution, these obstacles were overcome, resulting in a successful and visually stunning design.
The Air Bubble project was completed in September 2019 in Kunshan, China. It offers a refreshing and innovative approach to office design, creating a workspace that promotes collaboration, creativity, and well-being. This design has been recognized for its excellence and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020.
With its unique properties and innovative approach, the Air Bubble office design by Jinzhihuikun Building Technology Co.,Ltd sets a new standard for flexible and translucent workspaces. By prioritizing fluidity, adaptability, and visual aesthetics, this design creates an inspiring and productive environment for modern professionals.
